Doth walk in fear and dread,
And, having once turned round, walks on,
And turns no more his head;
Because he knows a frightful fiend
Doth close behind him tread.
- Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley in Frankenstein
Well it's time gaze upon the frightful fiend – to pull back the tattered curtain in the lab and reveal the winner of November's Mad Scientist contest. As you may recall, the challenge was brought forth with these words:
"Stitch together a new logo made from pieces of other ones, or simply make ghastly alterations to an existing logo to produce a frightening abomination."
I'm proud to announce our winner – Kevin Carr.
And here's his creation – a ghastly melding of the NFL and Starbucks:
My friend Kevin offered this as the rationale behind his creation:
"Why not combine two of my favorite things? Eek!"
Eek indeed! Now, clearly these elements don't go together, but there is something about this that I find compelling . . . can't quite put my finger on it. But I can tell you one thing - it is well-crafted. Kevin's hiding some mad design skills under that blood-stained lab coat.
Nice work Kevin – your DVD of the original 1931 Frankenstein will be out to you soon!
WARNING: This logo may provoke football players to replace Gatorade with hot coffee as the beverage to pour over coach during victory celebrations. I see a law suit a'comin'!

I can't wait to kick some butt in their new Fantasy Barista's League. (nice work Kevin)
